Innovation
Panda is named after Kent Engineering and Foundry where our story began. Our founder Raymond Cooke was propelled by a love of music and a refusal to compromise, and he leveraged technology at every turn to ensure KEF’s position at the cutting edge of audio.A list of breakthroughs spanning more than half a century shores up that promise; a walk to match the talk. Patents and academic papers alike testify to decades of consistent progress, from the early use of synthetic materials to our Reference Series which determines industry standards to this day. KEF’s insistence on excellence is at the heart of a virtuous circle, which attracts the world’s most gifted acoustic engineers to join us in the pursuit of good, better, best.
Award-Winning Quality
It’s lovely when others recognise our hard work. We’re very proud of the many fantastic reviews and awards our products receive.
Great Sound Shouldn’t Cost the Earth
At Panda Audio we take our responsibilities to the planet and its people very seriously. Hi-fi is essential for us as music fans, and although entertainment fulfils a fundamental human need, we must also know our place.
We take great care to use the earth’s resources carefully and treat our fellow humans with the respect they deserve.
A History of Beautiful Sound
Taking years to design, the R50 speakers used a seven foot ‘tapered labyrinth’ construction, damped with long haired lamb’s wool; this was all in aid of trying to reduce distortion which it did very well, but it did mean the speakers weighed over 44kg each!
We Place The Listener At The Heart Of The Performance
At Meridian we always take a human-centric approach to audio design. We strive to achieve a sound that is authentic, lifelike and natural. Musical subtleties are neither lost nor rearranged, rather their rhythm, timing, alignment and relationship is perfectly retained.
This delivers a realistic sense of positioning, space and true scale of the vocals and instruments that make up a music track or performance. It’s the fine details that matter, anything that adds to, removes or degrades the detail will lessen the listening experience.
Engineered In Britain
Since our inception in 1977, all of Meridian’s products have been researched, designed, and engineered by us in Great Britain. Maintaining our processes at home means that we have complete control over our products, from concept right through to delivery. This means that when you receive a Meridian product, you can be confident that its quality, functionality and reliability will be second to none.
